How hygienic are your workmates?

If you’ve ever harboured doubts about the personal hygiene habits of your work colleagues…

A staggering 62 per cent of men do not wash their hands after going to the bathroom. And while women are slightly better than men, 40 per cent admit they too share this dirty habit.

A survey of 100,000 people, carried out by a washroom services company, was the largest ever analysis into hand-washing habits.

A further study revealed that half of surfaces in workplace kitchens are contaminated by dangerously high levels of coliforms – the bacteria present in faeces which can lead to outbreaks of gastrointestinal disease.

The research also revealed that the handles of shared fridge-freezers were bacteria-rife, with a third carrying high levels of coliforms, whilst 30 per cent of shared microwaves were also shown to be contaminated around the handles and buttons.

For those of you that think a spray and a wipe of the office is enough to keep everything clean, think again.  That cloth is simply moving bacteria from surface to surface and your workplace could be making you sick.
